Scott Peterson is Avalara's Vice President of U.S. Tax Policy and Government Relations. He has over 30 years experience working in tax policy and legislation, having been the first Executive Director of the Streamlined Sales Tax governing board and the former COO of an organization devoted to making sales tax simpler and more uniform for the benefit of business. Scott also served ten years as the Director of the South Dakota Sales Tax Division and twelve years providing research and legal writing for the South Dakota Legislature.
