The One With the R&D Tax Credit

This past week we welcomed Aprio experts Dave Carter-Hanson and Nevin Kumar for a CPE session on the R&D tax credit. Surprise, surprise - there have been updates to this tax credit since the project Matt and I worked on as young PwC associates back in 2010. What a fun summer project and a nice break from auditing, but that's a story for another day.
The update that most caught my attention was how Qualified Research Expenditures (QREs) now include cloud hosting environments. This makes total sense with how business systems have evolved over the years and technology has moved to the cloud. Thanks, NetSuite, for leading the way!
Dave is a Tax Partner and the R&D Tax Services Leader for Aprio. He knows the four-part test, documentation best practices, and optimal discovery questions inside out.
As Director with Aprio's Technology Advisory practice, Nevin brought a helpful knowledge of ERP implementations and the NetSuite world.
Together, Dave and Nevin shared a case study that highlighted how to evaluate an ERP implementation for the R&D Tax Credit opportunity.
If this sounds applicable to your organization, you are welcome to reach out directly or schedule a consultation with Dave using this link.
